FOUR SUPERB LIVE BANDS
USA's - THE SIXTH GENERATION - GEORGES BIG SHED SEARCHIN' - GERRY'S HATRICKS
Yes! This year Lankykats are joining in with all the fun and frolicks of the longest running Carnival in the Northwest. Bands will play from 1:00pm 'til 4:00 on Saturday 13 July on the specially adapted mobile stage parked outside the main marquee.
Included in the 60's themed show are The Sixth Generation - an American band who are currently concluding their very successful first tour of the UK, together with Gerry's Hatricks and several other popular outfits who play regularly on Lankykats nights in The Standish Unity Club.
Collections for charities and worthy causes will be held on the day with all the bands performing free. www.adlingtoncarnival.com
"Why's that amp' stuck in the back of the garage next to these old winkle picker shoes? They've been there since Sandy Shaw won the Eurovision Song Contest."
Yes, where is that 'ole gear? And more over.. do you still need it? Lankykats are looking out for stuff like this. Running Lankykats is an expensive job and costs are never going to go away, and we really want to make loads of dosh for charites and worthy causes, so we thought if you could possible make a kind donation of a previously luvved-up amp', mic', a mic stand, a cymbal, a plectrum, a speaker or two, then that's as good as cash in the bank to us.
So go on.. Get your ladder out and get into that loft.. and while your at it.. get that garden shed sorted out too; afterall, you never know what you'll find lurking in those murky long-forgotton depths..?

'KATS IN THE DOCK..
Gerry Sandon - Bill Hart - Alan Gilligan - Andy 'Boppin' Roby
Lankykats band regulars Just Vintage were invited by Merseycats to play a set at The Anchor Courtyard in the Albert Dock, Liverpool on a gloriously sunny Saturday 1 June. Just Vintage were the first of many live bands, duo's and solo performers to entertain the hundreds of tourists over two days who flocked to the dock to rock - so to speak!
Alan Gilligan - Andy 'Boppin' Roby - Bill Hart - Julie Gilligan - Gerry Sandon
No visit to the Albert Dock is complete however, without a visit to see the magnificent bronze statue of Liverpool rock 'n roll legend Billy Fury. As an apt and fitting tribute to Billy they sang his No 1 hit record 'Halfway To Paradise' - much to the appreciation and acclaim of the passing tourists.

Chimbo´s Revival still resides and comes from Copenhagen/Denmark. With enthusiastic frontman Ingvar "Chimbo" Kristensen rocking through the classic Rock´n´Roll songs from the 1950´s and 1960´s the band has never been more busy than now.
You can still hear the songs in the Chimbo´s Revival show that made the band famous a long time ago: "Crazy Man Crazy" (originally by Chimbo´s hero Bill Haley) ,"I Saw Her Standing There" (Lennon/McCartney) -and of course "Stuck In 64" and "Small Beer" both written by the late, great Colin Manley formerly of The Remo Four from the Brian Epstein stable, and later in The Swinging Blue Jeans. And it was with the Swinging Blue Jeans that Chimbo got to know Colin Manley, Ray Ennis, Les Braid and Ian McGhee in 1980 on a tour in Denmark. Colin and Les even toured as guest star guitar and bass players on three of Chimbo´s Revival tours. Tragically Colin Manley died April 9th 1999 and Les Braid July 31st 2005.
Chimbo´s Revival are know for the humerous stage show, with the splendid guitar work of original guitarist Lars "Vegas" Hansen, Chimbos strong vocals and his endless impressions of famous Rock or Moviestars. The audience just love it.
The boys traveled Europe on several occasions, and appeared many times on national TV Shows. Chimbo´s Revival are also known for appearing twice in the Guinness Book of World Records. The first time in 1990 for doing four gigs in four different Cities in 13 hours. The second time in 2000 for doing seven gigs in seven different cities in 24 hours. And don´t forget: the boys set up their own gear at every gig. Silly idea maybe, but it did get Chimbo´s Revival a lot of promotion.
Chimbo himself has been in Showbiz since 1976, and has no plans of packing in yet. So why not come out and enjoy The Chimbo´s Revival Show to a night of Rock & Roll Nostagia.
Middleton, Lancashire is a small overspill town located on the outskirts of north Manchester. Here in the 'burbs' next door to Rochdale and Oldham they too cut their early rock 'n roll teeth with the best of them..
Off we Lankykats went to the North West Guitar Show and met lots of purist rock 'n rollers like ourselves and also spread the good name of Lankykats to anybody who hadn't heard of us before.
Lankykats were the only charity stand there and it was kindly offered to us free of charge by the organiser Peter Hoarty. We chatted to many people, met some familiar faces and still had time to run a raffle with 1st prize of a bottle of spirits kindly donated by The Standish Unity Club. The winning ticket number was Green 17 and is still yet unclaimed.
Next off we are going to the next show at Aintree Race Course, Liverpool in November.. Tally ho!

TED ' KINGSIZE' TAYLOR
Lanky Beat - Making Friends
Ted 'Kingsize' Taylor hails from Crosby, Lancashire which is just a stones' throw from the northern Liverpool border and quite close to Liverpool's famous dockland. He fronted The Dominoes for many years, played regularly at The Cavern Club, The Star Club - Hamburg amongst the many other famous venues and was an early pioneer of rock and beat music from the early 1950's right through to the present day.
Ted now plies his musical crafts in Germany where he had numerous hit singles over the years where he now claims a permanent residency. A born-at-heart Lancastrian he regularly makes the trip back to his roots whereupon he can catch-up with his spitting-image son Mark - playing in his excellent band The Marmosets.
He tells me he intends to make it soon to Lankykats where he has a standing invitation to join in anytime with the rock 'n roll fun.. and I have an idea that he would be delighted to appear on the same stage with son Mark.. What a sight for sore eyes at Lankykats that would be.. Fingers crossed then Eh!
'Best wishes to all Lanky's', he says.. and many beat wishes to you too Ted.. Bill Hart: May 2013
Astrid & Bill
Lanky Beat & Lankykats - Making even more friends..
This is Astrid Krützfeldt.. and this is one fab person. Astrid knows The Star Club, Hamburg and all the artiste's including 'Kingsize' Taylor (with whom she is a great friend) and whoever else played there - like the back of her own hand. How? Because she used to work there - that's how!
She is currently on holiday visiting old aquaintences in Liverpool and Lancashire from the contact's and the many friends she made there in the 1960's - and says, "but this time I couldn't wait to get here fast enough."
She had spotted the Lanky Beat page on Facebook some months ago and through its several links she also found Lankykats. She promised herself that after 'friending' me she would be making the pilgrimage to see us in action and spend the evening at Lankykats. Last night Thursday 16 May - she walked through the doors of The Unity club and made that dream come true.. We were so proud to have her here in Standish..
Astrid is due to make it back in two weeks time to the next Lankykats night on Thursday 6 June... However this time; it is 'we' at Lankykats who can't wait!.. Bill Hart: May 2013
In addition to being the established home of Lankykats with no charges for the great facilities on offer, The Standish Unity Club are also a new Lankykats sponsor.
At each one of Lankykats future meetings the club management will donate the following to support the Lankykats Charity Groups' fund raising efforts..

"This is the last show in the mega-successful first ever LBS series folks.. We are back in early July and we will be broadcasting The Lanky Beat Show directly from the new radio studios in Wrightington Hospital.
Firmly established links now exist between Chorley Preston Radio and WHR due to Dianne Herring and Kathy Townley's recent innovative collaborations - so The Lanky Beat Show will now reach well beyond the boundaries of Wigan and Leigh, and will touch new territories deep inside, pushing even further into the very heart of Lankyland..
But we can't wait till then! So we've decided to keep things well on the boil and steadily bubbling until July - by producing several LBS Special Programmes.. Yeahh..! Look-out more news on here and - I'll see you soon.."
