PUTTING THE RED ROSE COUNTY OF LANCASHIRE
ON THE WORLDS' ROCK 'n ROLL MAP..
MAD GREEN OCTAPUS BAND
After seeing Gary Tallent of the E Street Band at Bury Met last June, I saw he had 'laid' a brick with his name on it at the Cavern Club Wall of Fame when he appeared there the previous gig to Bury.
I played bass guitar in a group in the late 60s called The Mad Green Octopus Band. Later in the early 70s we changed our name to Currency and appeared at the Cavern Club seven times.
I too played at The Cavern and had bricks in the wall. I found our brick about three from the top, I then took a visit to Liverpool to see it for myself and take some photos which I have attached.
To complete the names on the promotion photos they are Peter Jackson on drums and me Keith Holden (Lester) on bass.
The colour photo is at Blackpool Casino, Horseshoe Bar with two changes being Pete Uttley on keyboards and Paul ? on drums. The b&w photo of me was taken at my last gig at Burnley College in early 1972.
