Dave Glendinning: Lead Vocal. Rob Tomlinson: Lead Guitar.
Gordon Tilley: Rhythm Guitar. Phil Clancy: Bass Guitar. Tony Whitfield: Drums
Formed in 1963 playing local venues around Widnes, Warrington, St. Helens and Liverpool.
1964 - Gordon Tilley replaced by Tony - Flash - Oakley on Rhythm Guitar. Phil Clancy replaced by John Hulstrom on Bass Guitar
They continued to play local venues including 'The Cavern Club' but had to change the name of the band as it clashed with another similarly sounding Local group. Renamed Optimists Incorporated.
1965/6 -Tony Whitfield replaced on drums by Graham Pye who was then replaced by George Johnson.
1967 - Auditioned at 'The Pink Elephant Club' for William (Don't-call me-Bill) Leyland of the well known L. E. AGENCY and were signed up. The venues changed considerably and they were regular performers at Wigan Casino, Bolton Casino, Blackpool Tower, Rivington Hall Barn, Monaco Ballroom, Hindley, Chorley Town Hall and many other's as well as various Lancs/Yorks Universities.
1968-- Tony Oakley replaced by Geoff Weems on Keyboards. This became a very busy period for the band averaging three or four venues per week.
1970-- Geoff Weems replaced by Derek Taylor on Keyboards. This was to be the final line up until the group disbanded in 1971.
FINAL LINE UP: Dave Glendinning: Lead Vocals. Rob Tomlinson: Lead Guitar. John Hulstrom: Bass Guitar. George Johnson: Drums. Derek Taylor: Keyboards.
